Jane Mitchell

Jane Mitchell has lived in Cordova for 33 years.  Jane has worked for the Walker County Board of Education for 24 years and has bee the bookkeeper for Bankhead Middle School for 15 of those years (Go Blue Devils).  This is Jane's first term on the Cordova City Council.  Jane has been married to Russell Mitchell for 33 years.  They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.  Jane is proud to see the improvements in Cordova and look forward to all of the exciting things to come. Brett Dawkins

I'm a life long resident and a 2008 graduate of Cordova High School. I’ve been volunteering with the Cordova Fire Department for 15 years currently serving as Assistant Fire Chief since 2012. Committed to public safety and supporting our local economy to help growth. Also serving on the Cordova Water & Gas Board, and Events Committee. My email is  dawkins65@live.com 

Velda Pettit

Velda Pettit has been a Cordova resident all of her life and graduated from Cordova High School in 1978. She has a Master's Degree, specializing in Behavior Modification for Children with Autism. She is married to Jackie Pettit and they have 5 children. Her email is veldacp311@gmail.com

Ed Earp

 Ed Earp is a Cordova native, a graduate of Cordova High School (’84), and served in the U.S. Navy active duty from 1984 – 1987. Ed remained in the US Naval Reserves until 2004. Ed began a career with the Alabama Department of Corrections in 1988 and retired from the Dept. of Corrections in 2013. Ed then began a second career with Alabama Power Company in Sept. 2013 and is currently the Generation Security Supervisor for Alabama Power.

Ed was first elected to represent the Cordova City Council in November of 2012. In November 2016, residents reelected Ed to another four-year term, and again reelected Ed in 2020. Ed has served in several leadership roles on the Council, such as Mayor Pro-Tem since elected in 2012. In 2024, Ed resigned his position on the Cordova City Council. In February 2025, Ed was re-applied for a vacant council seat and was voted in unanimously to fill the vacancy.

Ed has been married to Cordova native, Vicki Earp for 37 years. They have one son, one daughter, and four grandchildren. Ed is dedicated to doing his part to make Cordova a better place to live, learn, work and play. My email is jeearp9166@charter.net
