The mission of Bankhead Middle School is to work toward developing the whole child to ensure student success. Bankhead Middle School’s vision is to provide meaningful learning experiences while meeting the highest educational standards in a caring, collaborative learning community.  In keeping with that vision, Bankhead Middle School is the only Cognia STEM Accredited school in the Walker County School System, the first middle school to be a Level I Marzano High Reliability School, and was recently awarded the A+ College Ready grant for Cohort 16.  Continuing to set the standard in many areas.  Bankhead Middle School’s Vex Robotics program served as the model for the STEM 22 grant. This grant is funded by the Walker Area Community Foundation and the Alabama Power Foundation to replicate our program in other Walker County Schools as well as Jasper City Schools.  Bankhead Middle School was also awarded the CLAS School of Distinction for Robotics in 2023.

Bankhead Middle School has a proud tradition of excellence and tradition.  Our students are competitive in both academics and athletics.  State test scores are traditionally above average and were the highest in the Walker County System as well as neighboring systems in 2021-2022.  The faculty is dedicated to practicing the most current data-driven best teaching practices.  We continue to be competitive in all sports, archery, and robotics.  Volleyball, football, cross-country, basketball, softball, baseball, track and field, archery, robotics, and concert and marching band are currently offered at Bankhead Middle School.
